Water treatment process for producing drinking water

The first stage in the treatment of water intended for drinking consists of removing the largest waste particles through a pretreatment process: medium- and fine-screening and/or sieving. This stage must be adapted to each type of water to be treated. For this reason, EMO’s engineers and technicians have designed various models of rakes and screens to address every specific issue.

The physico-chemical treatment of water follows the screening stage. Designed to agglomerate the finest particles so that they can be removed more easily, this process requires a chemical reaction that enables the coagulation and flocculation of the particles. These particles then pass through a separator: EMO manufactures several ranges of decanters and dissolved air flotation units, depending on the flow rate of the effluent to be treated.

Once the effluent has been filtered, the suspended solids are permanently removed. Here again, various methods can be considered for this filtration stage. EMO supports and guides its partners in selecting their equipment and in the physico-chemical treatment processes.

From the treatment of drinking water sludge to its recycling

Treatment of drinking water sludge involves reducing its volume in order to minimise the amount that needs to be stored. Through a series of stages, the sludge undergoes various treatments that ultimately enable it to be recycled. The sludge is first conditioned, then thickened and dewatered. Sludge dewatering separates the liquid from the solids. Once dewatered, the solids are stored and transported to their final destination.
