The VLC screw washer compactor is designed to wash and compact screenings. The waste is washed to remove as much organic matter as possible, then compacted. This increases performance compared with conventional compactor: washed and compacted waste screenings dryness from 30% to 40%

Two configurations:

  • evacuation into a counter-pressure piping,
  • output connection to a CPS counter-pressure screw for even greater waste volume reduction.

ADVANTAGES

  • Compact, economical solution
  • Visual inspection of the wash zone and of compaction through an inspection hatch
  • Simple, functional construction
  • Higher reduction of the volume and weight of screenings rejected
  • Reduced disposal costs and odour problems
  • Dryness can be increased to 60% after addition of CPS system

OPERATING PRINCIPLE

The screenings are discharged from the bar screen or the conveyor system into the feed hopper of the screw washer compactor. The rejects are conveyed to the washing zone by a spiral screw.

In the washing zone (1), the screenings are washed by a regulated water supply (industrial service water) and the organic matter is removed. The intensity and washing cycle are easily adjusted according to the type of screenings and the desired result. After washing, the screenings are discharged to the compaction zone (2).
The washed and compacted screenings are evacuated to a skip via a piping system.

As for the filtrates, they flow naturally through the drain outlet.

VLC Screw Washer Compactor

OPTION

Combining the VLC screw washer compactor with the CPS counter-pressure screw produces a product with a dryness content of up to 60%. The CPS counter-pressure screw is connected to the washer compactor by an elbow.

It creates counter-pressure and completes the compacting work of the screw washer compactor by reducing screenings to small pieces. The VLC + CPS coupling allows the waste to be directed around a 360° periphery.
