Bugolobi Wastewater Treatment Plant, Kampala, Uganda, one of the major installation for EMO in East Africa
Bugolobi Wastewater Treatment Plant collects wastewater and sewerage from Kampala, the capital and largest city of Uganda.
It is one of the largest wastewater treatment plant in Africa capable of processing 45,000 m³ of wastewater daily. The aim of this ultra modern sewerage treatment plant is to improve sanitation services of the city and reduce pollution of the Nakivubo Channel, a surface effluent into Lake Victoria. EMO designed and installed gravity belt thickeners (GBT) and belt filter presses (BFP) to handle mechanical sludge thickening and dewatering.
Sludge thickening
- Equipment: 3 gravity belt thickeners
- Belt width: 1.00 m
- Type of effluent: municipal biological sludge
- Flowrate: 375 kg DS/h/unit
- Capture rate : >97 %
Sludge dewatering
- Equipment : 3 belt filter presses
- Belt width: 2,50 m
- Type of effluent: municipal digested sludge
- Flowrate: 720 kg DS/h/unit
- Capture rate: >95 %
